Consumer Product Liability Discussion

The focus of this months meeting will be discussing the role of quality assurance directors, managers, and engineers in recognizing and avoiding lawsuit risks.

Lawsuit risks will be discussed through the use of a hypothetical lawsuit that centers on quality assurance issues that you may experience or hope to avoid every day.

The interactive case study is designed to educate you about product liability lawsuits, product safety and the harmful evidence that you may unknowingly be creating every day.

Speaker:

Richard T. Coyne, a partner in the Ohio law firm Wegman, Hessler & Vanderburg, has been practicing law since 1989. He supervises the firm’s product liability litigation practice. He has served as national coordinating counsel for one of the largest manufacturers of lawn mowers, garden tractors, utility vehicles and other types of outdoor power equipment in all of its product liability cases for over 20 years. He has represented clients in cases involving consumer and commercial products, recreational products, industrial products and household products. He has related expertise in governmental regulations, product recalls in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, standards compliance, product warranties and insurance coverage issues. His practice includes mediations, arbitrations and trials. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Trial Attorneys of America.

Profile Email Update Procedures

Purpose:

To update information so it is accurate.  It is important for members to follow these steps because the Membership Chair receives a monthly download and assumes the member profile kept at National ASQ is the most accurate information.  As a result, any old email address is overwritten with what is received from the download.

To Change Email Address:

1. Go to www.asq.org and log in
2. Click on “My Account”
3. Click on “My Contact Information”
4. Scroll down to the “Email Address” section of the page
5. Enter your new email address and make sure that the “Primary” radio button is selected
6. Click “Update My Information”

If you have any issues, you can always give them a call at 1-800-248-1946 and they can update any info over the phone.
